Camp War Eagle Auburn: Parent Guide, Dates, Where to Stay Downtown

Camp War Eagle is one of the first moments in your Auburn journey that makes everything feel real.

Your student is not just talking about Auburn anymore. They are walking around campus, learning the ins and outs, meeting other students, and getting set up for fall. Camp War Eagle is Auburn’s freshman orientation. It is two packed days of sessions, advising, and class registration. Parents get their own info sessions too, so you aren’t just tagging along.

This guide will cover what you actually need to know: when registration opens, how long to stay, where to stay, and a few easy Auburn must-dos while you’re here.

What is Camp War Eagle

Camp War Eagle (CWE) is Auburn University’s official orientation experience for all incoming freshmen and their families. The orientation program is layed out so students can learn about all the campus resources and meet with advisors to register for fall classes.

CWE moves fast. You will walk more than you think. Wear good shoes.

When Camp War Eagle Registration Opens

Camp War Eagle registration typically opens in March. Your student will need to be fully set up on the Auburn side first, so do not book travel until they are officially registered for a session date.

How Long Parents Should Stay

Two nights is the sweet spot. Arrive the night before Day 1. Stay through Day 2. Leave after it wraps up.

You can do a one-night stay, but it usually feels rushed. Camp War Eagle is already on a tight schedule, so try not to make your hotel plan too tight. If you want one relaxing dinner and a little room to breathe, adding an extra night after Day 2 is a great idea.
